The ones to the left are Riesentraube ("giant bunch of grapes") and the ones to the right are the babies of last years hybrids that popped up.

These guys are Chocolate Stripes and I'm trying to figure out if they are ripe yet:

Pictures Tomorrow!

The Bantam Cochins are home safe and sound, settling into a cage with some water to drink. I need to pick up feed tomorrow,  the little ones at 12 weeks shouldn't be on layer feed, it has too much calcium and could harm their kidneys.  But no pictures tonight they need a chance to settle without having a camera flashed in their faces, so tomorrow will be there first pictures.

They didn't show

We waited over an hour and the people who were to collect the roosters never showed. If you know anyone who needs a rooster (or two) in NW PA, please let me know.

The Week of the Chickens!

I am as happy as can be at the moment. My two extra Barred Rock/Easter Egger roosters will be leaving to go live with a BYC member in Mercer County.
And on Saturday I will be getting three Bantam Cochins, two are about 3 months old pullets (one white and one black and white mottled) and the other is a year old buff who is laying and has already raised a clutch. I'll be posting pictures when I get them, but if you want to get an idea use google images and enter bantam cochin and the color.

My last of Glad is in bloom, they rest have already died off:
My Scarlet Runner Beans are also in bloom:
There is at least two egg gourds so far:
Some of the tomatoes are ripening and my volunteers are almost ready to harvest:

One of several Bottle Gourds:
 One of the other gourds:
My volunteer sunflower:
My Crimson Sweet watermelons:

Now I need to tell you that a chicken broke in while I was away camping and ate off of a few things includeing this pumpkin:

And here are some of the other pumpkins, which I'm pretty sure are all from the volunteers:
and this pretty is growing outside of the fence it the weeds, but we aren't telling the chickens that:
These sun flowers are multi-head and were given to me as seeds from an extremely kind BYC member, when I was losing all those birds this spring:

and these are two bottle gourds that where growing outside of the fence where the chickens can easily reach them (and yes they pictures need turned, I forgot...):

Kernel's day out

Sorry I haven't posted much, but I have several post I really should do but just haven't gotten around to.

Today Kernel gets to enjoy the great out doors, I moved his cage outside (with out the bottom) so he can get some vitamin D and eat some grass. I got a good look at his beck today and I'm either going to have to figure out how he can keep it trimmed naturally or file it back a little. So I'll let everyone know how his day goes later.
