Poor George....

Poor George has suddenly come under way to much attention from the roosters, I'm thinking of moving her inside for a couple days. But I'm hoping to get rid of several of the roosters, so if you need a rooster in north western PA let me know!

Shrinking and Growing

I finished fencing the flower bed/smallest bed last week (picture from today):

I started planning my garden Saturday and came to the conclusion that the space I have set up to plant is not enough for all the seeds I bought/ what I want to grow. So I went out and looked at my old big bed and the bed I was making.
Big bed last year
I came to conclude that they weren't going to work, I tried a couple of plans, combined both beds and added on to them. Then I fenced it, in doing so using up all my left over fence.
The metal sheets and outdoor rug (left top) are to help kill off the grass, after the grass is killed off I'll move them to cover up the rest of the grass and cover up the dead with chicken bedding.

It should be interesting to see how I do on weeding, I've never been good at keeping op on it. But the to-do list has shrunk and grown in one weekend.

Driving Around... Pictures

When I was driving home yesterday from getting allergy shots and helping my Grandmother around her house,  I stopped and took some pictures.

This little one must have been fairly new it had no tags like the other calves.
This girl, when I stopped, thought I was interesting.
This was just a cute little calf.
A cool barn/shed thing.

and what made me stop in the at the shed in the first place.

Clean out, Weed out

When I got home today my first thought is I should really get those snow peas planted, but I had no desire to really "work" in the garden today. So I changed from my sneakers to my rain/mess boots and went outside to at least enjoy the sunshine. I wondered around for a bit, said hi to the chickens and a few of the cats, but wondered back to my smallest garden bed. Along with being my smallest it is also my oldest the one that started it all, where I grew my first flowers and then my first vegetables and I'm planning to turn it into a flower garden.

I removed the really bad improvised fencing from around it and weed out all the grass and weeds that where trying to move into the bed and around the stones. Here is an after picture and the weird white thing is a pretty piece (well, pretty up close) piece of pottery I dug up a few years back:

I'm making Progress

My to-do list is forever growing from finding homes for the extra roosters to fixing the Vic (the box turtle) into a bigger home. But to day I made some progress, I cleaned out my one old 10 gallon aquarium and put the gravel back in and then fixed it up and placed Vic inside. It's kind of empty and plain but gives him/her a lot more room to move.

I also got my tomatoes planted inside, 3 different varieties,  Mortgage Lifter, Chocolate Stripes, and Riesentraube which translates to "giant bunch of grapes". There is still lots to do like plant snow peas and get a bunch of other stuff planted inside, to finish fencing the gardens, and find homes for the roosters, but it's progress.

Baby Broccoli

Please excuse any cat hair, Rex has taken to trying to sleep on or next to the flat. Strangely the older seeds are doing better then the younger so far and a over crowded.
